Output Class: Administration of the Sustainable Management Fund

Through this output class, the Minister purchased the administration of the Sustainable Management Fund (SMF), including promotion of the SMF and development of SMF publications, funding of projects through tendering and application processes, payments to providers, contract management, and monitoring and auditing of funded projects.

Output: Administer the Sustainable Management Fund (SMF).

Performance Measure 2007/08 Performance
Prepare documentation and advertise for projects to be funded under the SMF. Achieved – The Ministry prepared documentation for the 2008/09 funding round which was open from 10 October 2007 – 22 January 2008.
Evaluate applications in line with fund criteria. Achieved – The Ministry evaluated and approved funding for 54 projects in line with the funding criteria during 2008/09.
Monitor and project manage at least 30 projects that are split on both a regional and community basis. Achieved – The Ministry monitored and managed contracts for 47 projects during 2007/08.
Allocate at least 95% of the non-departmental funding in each financial year. Not achieved – The Ministry allocated 84% of non-departmental funding to projects.
