5 Triple Bottom Line Progress
In March 2003 the Ministry published Towards a Triple Bottom Line - A Report on our Environmental, Economic and Social Performance. This section integrates into the Annual Report a review of the operational environmental and social performance of our offices and staff in 2003/04.
Major outcomes of this year's office environmental and social performance include:
- an external Advisory Group was appointed during the year to provide expertise on sustainability issues for our new office building
- a 30% reduction in the number of paper reams used per FTE
- the implementation of a food waste system which has reduced waste to landfill by 72% per FTE
- an increase of 17% in CO2 equivalent emissions per staff member
- an increase in staff from 180 in 2003 to 226 in 2004.
