Environmental Protection Authority Bill Updates

The Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) Bill passed its first reading unanimously on 24 November 2010 and was referred to the Local Government and Environment Select Committee.

Submissions on the Bill closed on 28 January 2011.  The Local Government and Environment Select Committee recieved a total of 38 submissions.

The Select Committee reported the EPA Bill back to the House on 28 March 2011.

Business continues as usual for the Environmental Risk Management Authority and the current EPA housed in the Ministry for the Environment.

The Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) Bill was introduced into the House on 16 November 2010 and is awaiting its first reading.

Business will continue as usual for the Environmental Risk Management Authority and the current EPA Statutory Office housed in the Ministry for the Environment until the new legislation is passed and comes into effect.
