About environment centres

Environment centres provide projects, activities and services that empower communities to take action that materially improves environmental quality. An environment centre is defined as a place that is accessible to the general public and whose key activities are to:

  • facilitate and motivate existing and new groups within the community to take action that materially improves environmental quality
  • provide environmental information and education services for the community
  • act as a focus and meeting place for community action on environmental issues.
