Comments on the revised NES proposal
In late May – early June 2011 the Ministry recently called for comments on the revised policy of the proposed NES. The comments phase was designed to give existing submitters and iwi authorities the chance to have a say on the revised proposal.
The Ministry held three workshops for submitters and iwi authorities in late May 2011 in Wellington, Rotorua and Nelson to provide an overview of the changes that have been made to the policy.
Sixty two parties commented on the revised policy. The Ministry has been analysing these comments.
Comments were received from:
- local government (18)
- the forestry sector (18)
- individuals (8)
- iwi
- non Government Organisations
- other industries
- a political party
- a Crown Research Institute and
- a joint submission from a regional council and forestry companies
Figure 1 shows the proportions of comments by category (the number indicates the number of comments that was received in that category).
