Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Act 1941
The overriding purpose of the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Act 1941 is to make provision for the conservation of soil resources, the prevention of damage by erosion and to make better provision for the protection of property from damage by floods.
In order to achieve the Act’s purpose and objects Catchment Boards
are able to be established under the Act. Catchment Boards are responsible
for the activities in their Catchment District. These Boards are given
wide ranging powers to achieve the purpose and objects of the Act.
