Textual description of figure

The figure shows part of the process by which a Regional Council (RC) undertakes an Adverse Effects Report, continued from Figure 3.

When preparing an AER, the RC must consider the following: effects of the activity on the environment; and any relevant information and views.

When preparing an AER, the RC may have regard to: the relevant national policy statement; and the New Zealand Coastal Policy Statement; and any relevant operative and proposed Regional Policy Statements; and any other relevant planning documents e.g. Iwi Management Plans.

The AER report must include the following: details of the recognised CRO and the effects on the environment of the RCA; and an outline of all information received; and any views of the CRO holder; and a consideration of whether or not the exercise of the RCA will have any significant effects on the environment; and a recommendation to the MOC on the controls to impose; and the reasons for the recommendations.

The RC must have completed the AER within 40 working days of the commencement of the adverse effects assessment.

The RC must give a copy of the AER to the MOC and the holder of the relevant CRO within 5 working days of the completion of the AER.
