Timelines for getting a consent

The Environmental Protection Authority will usually take between 2 to 4 weeks to accept an application before forwarding to relevant competent authorities in other countries for consent.

The EPA must secure the written consent for all destination and transit countries for any proposed export of hazardous waste. This process can take between 1 to 4 months depending on the countries involved. The Basel Convention has no particular timeframe within which a permit must be issued.
