New Zealand Waste List

Below is the New Zealand Waste List (L-Code). The L-Code was adapted from international lists, and has been modified to reflect typical waste streams in New Zealand. The purpose of the L-Code is to provide guidance on identifying wastes in a consistent manner. The L-Code will also serve as the basis for record-keeping systems, particularly for hazardous wastes. Guidance on how to use the New Zealand Waste List can be found in the Guidelines for the Management of Hazardous Waste.

Choose the waste category below for information on specific waste streams for that category. Alternatively, you can search for specific waste items by entering a keyword or words into the search box below and clicking "Search".
