Draft New Zealand Urban Design Protocol
The Draft New
Zealand Urban Design Protocol was developed through:
- The
identification of key issues by participants at Urban Design
Forums/ Workshops in November/ December 2003.
- An Advisory Group who provided input into the content, direction
and priorities. The Advisory Group was made up of representatives
from central government, local government, private developers, professionals
and education institutes.
- The Draft New Zealand Urban Design Protocol was released on 5
August 2004 . The Minister's
media release on the Draft Urban Design Protocol outlined the
need to invest in the quality of urban design to make successful
places that work for people and proclaim New Zealand's confidence
in its urban future.
- Government consulted with the main agencies that influence the
design of the urban environment, including:
- local government - mayors, chief executives and local government
officials
- professional agencies with an interest and expertise in urban
design
- the construction and property development, and investment sectors
- the wider community.
- A series of consultation forums on the Draft New Zealand Urban
Design Protocol occurred over August and September 2004. Submissions
could also be made during this time.
The New Zealand
Urban Design Protocol was launched in 8 March 2005.
