City and regional development

The Urban team engages with central and local government on a number of city and regional development initiatives. These include:

Engagement with Auckland

Auckland is our largest metropolitan area with close to one third of our population. It has the strongest base for economic growth and innovation, and some of the most significant opportunities for improvements in our social and environmental wellbeing. Our work in Auckland is supported by the Government Urban and Economic Development Office (GUEDO).

Land use and transport

Land use and transport planning is a fundamental part of urban decision making. Good transport connections help our cities and regions gain a competitive advantage by improving accessibility, increasing economic growth, improving our environment and enhancing our quality of life. Our team works in collaboration with a variety of local and central government agencies.
