Analyst or Senior Analyst – Water statistician

This is a full-time fixed term role until January 2011 and is located in our Wellington head office.

Would you enjoy working in a supportive team which provides technical advice across the Ministry, actively engages with a wide range of environmental stakeholders, and is working to deliver more consistent and dependable freshwater monitoring in New Zealand?

The Information Directorate is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Analyst/Senior Analyst to join other water specialists in the Statistics and Geospatial team.

The Statistics and Geospatial team works with local authorities, Crown Research Institutes and other relevant parties to access data to report on the state of New Zealand’s environment.

The successful candidate will advance the Ministry’s work programmes in environmental reporting, state of the environment reporting, and environmental indicators by:

  • Demonstrated technical expertise in water.
  • Demonstrated knowledge or experience of state of the environment reporting processes.
  • Good understanding of how indicator information links to environmental management and decision-making.
  • Experience in working alongside policy analysts to translate complex technical information into appropriate formats for policy-setting.
  • Sound data and/or statistical analysis skills.
  • Ability to present complex information graphically.
  • Managing relationships with key providers of environmental information.
  • Sound project management skills.

Further information and position description

Analyst salary range: $39,903 to $76,974

Senior Analyst salary range: $76,975 to $108,899

Appointment within these ranges will be based on skills and experience.
