Vacancy 1205
Closing Date: End of Sunday 22 November 2009
This is a full-time permanent role and is Wellington-based.
Looking for an opportunity to make a difference to New Zealand’s environment and changing the way we manage waste? This position will give you an opportunity to be part of a fast-developing area of responsibility for the Ministry for the Environment.
The government is committed to reducing the amount of waste through the imposition of a levy on all waste disposed of to landfill. The levy is distributed to territorial authorities and the newly-established waste minimisation fund to support waste minimisation activities. To ensure statutory obligations are met, the Ministry for the Environment will appoint independent auditors to perform audits on their behalf.
We are looking for someone to manage the auditing of selected individuals, businesses and organisations to gather information on their compliance. You’ll be establishing and managing the auditing schedule, completing risk assessments, and making sure audit opinions are reviewed, assessed and actioned by the right people in the Ministry. You’ll be able to add value through your analysis of the results and making recommendations about next steps.
Auditing is a new responsibility for the Ministry, so we need someone with plenty of personal drive to establish this new function. You don’t need to be an auditor, but it would be useful if you were familiar with the auditing function to ensure it is properly and professionally carried out.
You will be working in a new team focused on ensuring compliance with statutory obligations.
The successful applicant will be appointed as an Analyst on the Ministry’s generic Analyst position description, managing the audit process.
Salary range: $39,903 to $76,974
Appointment within this range will be based on skills and experience.
