Senior Analysts – Fresh Water Policy

One permanent position and one fixed term parental leave position until December 2010. Both roles are Wellington-based.
Do you want to work on key issues that will shape the future of environmental management in New Zealand? Our Natural Systems Policy Team would like to hear from you.
The Natural Systems Policy Team manages policy programmes and initiatives for fresh water, oceans, aquaculture, biodiversity and environmental protection. The Team’s focus is on developing first class policy proposals, to equip New Zealand with a strong framework for managing natural resources for the long term good of our environment, economy and society.
This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of developing water policy through contributing to the Government’s New Start for Fresh Water programme.
We are looking for candidates with high quality policy analysis skills, experience in central government processes and a background in natural resource management, economics or public policy.
You will have the ability to analyse complex issues, then quickly and clearly articulate views in both written and verbal format.
You will have experience and confidence in advising senior managers, Ministers and select committees. An ability to apply economic analysis to policy issues and expertise with Resource Management Act processes at the local or central government level will be an added advantage.
You will need to be a team player, committed to working collaboratively with other team members, officials from other departments and stakeholders.
Further information and position description
Salary range: $76,975 to $108,899
Appointments within this range will be based on skills and experience.
