Environmental performance
Sustainable development is the cornerstone of the government's economic, social and environmental policies. Environmental performance reporting is part of a whole-of-government programme to find better ways of measuring and reporting on progress towards sustainability.
As well as looking at our own environmental performance, we help other government agencies to do so with our Govt3 programme. Govt3 helps government agencies to improve the eco-efficiency of their buying practices, assess the main impacts of their operations on the environment, and report on the environmental performance of their operations.
Our performance for 2001 to 2002 is reported in Towards a Triple Bottom Line - our first attempt at reporting on our impacts on the environment, economy and society. Our environmental performance since 2002 is reported in our Annual Report. This incorporates Triple Bottom Line Progress.
Our overarching policy on our environmental performance is expressed in our Environmental Policy Statement. We also have supporting policies on energy and waste.
